CPM Scheduling

The critical path is the longest path in the project schedule, AND is also the shortest amount of time within which the project can be be completed, given the current set of assumptions and planned resources. The critical path starts with resolving the missing information on the drawings and producing a fully coordinated set of drawings. It includes resolving open constructability issues. It is vital that we utilize the pre-construction period to finalize bid packages on a prioritized basis focused on long-lead items.

Risk Management

Formal risk management is at the core of delivering successful construction projects. The four key elements of risk management include Risk identification, Risk Identification, Risk Evaluation, Risk Mitigation and Risk Monitoring. Our experience informs us that risk registers can serve a useful purpose in identifying, quantifying, tracking and mitigating construction project risks. The earlier we implement the use of formal risk mitigation, the better. It is important to consider that a risk register is only a tool, and its effectiveness is a function of best practices, transparency, and honesty in the assessment of project risks. It should be noted that risk registers are only effective if they are maintained diligently, and are used as a proactive project management tool, rather than a reporting sheet.

Pre-Construction Services

Formal Pre-Construction

A well-planned pre-construction process enhances project value by identifying and resolving issues and risks during the design phase. It ensures that project scope, cost, schedule, and procurement align with the owner’s intent. It provides for transparency in guiding the team to focus on maximizing project value, including life-cycle cost evaluation.

Gate Reviews in Design and Pre-Construction

The purpose of a gate review is not to cast blame or to generate unnecessary paperwork. The intent is to implement the discipline and scrutiny necessary to deliver project requirements, meet the owner’s expectations and do so in an economic and timely manner. The goal is to maximize project value for the owner.
